CAA hires John Storey as CFO

Creative Artists Agency has found a new top financial officer from outside its ranks.

The Century City-based talent agency giant has hired Asurion CEO John Storey as its chief financial officer, the agency said Wednesday. Storey will succeed Carol Sawdye, who has been overseeing CAA‘s finances since taking over the role three years ago following the promotion of Jim Burtson to president of the agency.

“As CAA executes its vision to best serve our clients by expanding into new business areas and international territories, we are excited to welcome John to our team,” said Burtson. “John is a proven leader with an exceptional track record of strategic planning and operational improvement. His achievements in building for growth align well with our ambitious goals.”

Storey spent nearly two decades at Asurion, an IT and technology protection plan company, and previously held a role as an investment banker at Robertson Stephens and Alex. Brown & Sons.

“CAA is as admired for its market-leading position and industry innovation as it is for its uniquely powerful culture of collaboration and connection in service to its clients,” Storey added. “The company is clear in its vision to create limitless opportunities for its customers and employees, and I look forward to playing a role in CAA’s continued growth to help ensure that vision.”

Sawdye, who joined the CAA from PwC network in 2021, is leaving the agency.
